Flo Rida Bugatti Gold Funny Subaru
If we were a world-famous, celebrity with millions, we'd spend ages just trying everything that wasn't available to us beforehand. Since we're car enthusiasts, that includes all types of sports cars, hypercar, supercars, and so on.
Except when you've got more money than you know what to do with, simply buying a fast car isn't enough. Those who are in such a position have taken their already expensive cars and modified them even further!
To showcase some of these instances, we delved into the world of celebrity supercars, determining which ones were improved by mods and which were actually ruined.
10 Ruined: Hulk Hogan's Dodge Viper
It's only appropriate that Hulk Hogan, a larger than life professional wrestler, would own a high-performance car that packs a punch:the first generation Dodge Viper.
From what we can gather, not much was done to Hogan's Viper's internals. For the most part, the modifications seem to be exclusively cosmetic. Still, its appearance is a product of its time period: littered with 1990s color palettes and so on.
9 Ruined: Chris Brown's Lamborghini Gallardo
Speaking of strange color palettes, there's another modified supercar that has a similar issue. This time it's not an American car, but rather a first-generation Lamborghini Gallardo.
Once owned by artist Chris Brown, this 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo is pretty normal in all departments except for the exterior. For some reason, Brown went with a colorful appearance. In fact, we'd say it's too colorful since it makes his Gallardo look like a gigantic Matchbox or Hot Wheels toy.
8 Ruined: Deadmau5's 'Purrari'
In the modern age, Ferrari has become a much more exclusive car manufacturer than it ever has before. Not only do prospective owners have to be aware of the company's strict guidelines, they also have to adhere to them years into the future (lest they be ousted from Ferrari's inner-circle). Perhaps the most infamous example of this involves Deadmau5 and his 'Purrari'.
To the dissatisfaction of everyone at Ferrari, artist Deadmau5 decided to wrap his 458 Spider in 'Nyan Cat' imagery in an homage to the classic internet meme. As you can see, it consisted of a cat encased in a Pop-Tart, flying across space with a rainbow following behind it.
We think it's a strange idea, but acceptable no less. Ferrari, on the other hand, issued a cease and desist to Deadmau5arguing for the removal of the wrap. Either that or Deadmau5 could have faced possible legal repercussions.
7 Ruined: will.i.am's Tesla Model S
As will.i.am's name would suggest, he is no ordinary man. As such, neither are the cars that he drives—well, technically makes and drives. After all, will.i.am is not only a musician but a wild car-lover and designer as well.
Among the many cars he's helped build, one of the strangest is that of his custom Tesla Model S. Rather than reduce weight and improve performance, will.i.am appears to have done the opposite. Even worse, it commits the crime of turning an already boring-looking sedan into a hideous amalgamation of plastic add-ons.
6 Ruined: Nicki Minaj's Pink Lamborghini Aventador
Bright pink cars are almost a cliché nowadays. Unless it's a Barbie toy or a classic Cadillac, there are few acceptable reasons behind such a paint scheme. Though, that won't stop celebrities like Nicki Minaj from committing the cardinal sin of turning a Lamborghini into exactly that.
As if to flaunt her femininity and status, Minaj went all out in terms of price and shock value. Although we find the matte pink wrap to be a bit too gaudy, her choice of rims is acceptable. Forgiatos aren't cheap, which is probably why she chose them.
5 Awesome: Justin Bieber's Liberty Walk Ferrari 458 Italia
All right, time for a bit of a 'palate cleanser,' so to speak. After several not-so-great modified supercars, it's high time we got into the less offensive side—the well-done alternatives. To kick things off, we went with Justin Bieber's Ferrari 458 Italia.
When Bieber modified his 458 Italia, the 'widebody' trend was hitting its high-point. As a result, Bieber also jumped aboard the bandwagon; adding a Liberty Walk kit to his Ferrari.
At first, when we heard the news of another celebrity with a widebody kit, we weren't very optimistic. However, to our shock, his choice of a matte blue wrap and low-profile rims actually looks great, not to mention far better than we could've anticipated.
4 Awesome: Flo Rida's Gold Bugatti Veyron
A time tested method of 'flexing' on everyone else's car is to do one simple thing. No, not increase its speed or anything, but go beyond that. "What's beyond that?" you may ask. Well, if you're filthy rich, you make your car gold.
In Flo Rida's case, the vehicle in question is his Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the previous world record holder of 'fastest production car'. With a title like that, there's not too much more you could do to it that engineers at Bugatti haven't already tried. So, with nothing else to add, a gold-encrusted aesthetic really turns it up a notch.
3 Awesome: Kris Singh's Porsche Carrera GT Zagato
What do you do once you've got a $4 million Lamborghini Veneno, a one-of-a-kind Koenigsegg Agera XS, a Pagani Huayra 'La Monza Lisa' and more? Well, you get another toy, of course! And what better one to get than a Zagato-tuned Porsche Carrera GT?
We can't imagine someone getting into a Carrera GT and thinking "this needs more power." Nevertheless, the market is there, as evidenced by a Miami resident, Kris Singh, who recently got his GT Zagato delivered. This guy really does have everything you could ask for!
2 Awesome: Ben Baller's Ferrari 488 GTB
Behind every great celebrity is a jeweler who makes them expensive pieces of diamonds, gold, silver, and more. For many of the rich and famous, their 'go-to' jeweler also happens to be a car enthusiast who's none other than Ben Baller.
In an ironic twist, the flashiness and extreme aesthetic that Baller implements into his jewelry are surprisingly absent in his car selection. Sure, a stock Ferrari 488 GTB is flashy as is, but he didn't change its appearance as much as he could have.
With a set of red and black ADV1 rims, a Capristo exhaust system, and other performance mods, Ben Baller proved that "true beauty" is what lies underneath, not just on the surface.
1 Awesome: Chris Brown's Widebody Lamborghini Aventador SV
It's nice to see that Chris Brown's taste in cars has changed a bit since his 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo (mentioned earlier). Though it may still be a Lamborghini, his latest Aventador SV is a huge upgrade from the old one!
This time, Brown went all out on his Lamborghini. Not only does it have an awesome color-shifted wrap, but it also has a Liberty Walk widebody kit as well! Included with it are various performance tunes, which only makes the SV even more aggressive than it already was.
